This article examines alternative educational institutions as entities whose activities are focused on preparing students through the application of innovative educational approaches, methodologies, and projects. It is proved that author’s schools, private schools, as well as educational institutions founded by various foundations, religious organizations, denominations are created and function in parallel with general secondary education institutions, introducing fundamentally new approaches to the organization of the educational process. It is determined that the activities of private general secondary education institutions with a religious orientation are based on a combination of the State educational standard and the principles of confessional education. The institutions introduce spiritual and moral disciplines, operate on the basis of a specific confessional identity, organize religious events, and implement educational programs adapted in accordance with the provisions of a particular doctrine.
A number of private denominational educational institutions founded in Rivne region are presented. The organisation of the educational process in the educational centre «Word of Life» is presented. The significant goal of the institution is to form a personality capable of fulfilling its duties to society on the basis of Christian love, respect for God’s law, labour and family and Christian values. It is substantiated that an important component of the educational system in private institutions of confessional orientation is the formation of aesthetic beliefs and tastes based on Christian spiritual and moral traditions within the framework of language, literature and art education. The formation of the foundations of Christian aesthetics in such institutions usually takes place through the integration of spiritual and moral content into the educational and upbringing process by analysing works of art with Christian themes with in the language and literature and art educational fields.
