Abstract

The article examines the pedagogical potential of gaming technologies in the process of developing health-saving competence in primary school pupils. The relevance of the issue is determined by the persistent trend of deterioration in the health of primary school children and the need to find effective methods of educating them to value health. It analyses contemporary scientific approaches and research that highlight the importance of play activities for the harmonious development of a child’s personality and the formation of healthy lifestyle skills. It defines the essence of the concept of health-saving competence, its components and its role in the educational process of primary school. The classification and types of game technologies (didactic, role-playing, active, digital, etc.) that are appropriate for the formation of knowledge, abilities and skills of a healthy lifestyle in children are outlined. It has been found that the comprehensive use of game technologies in the educational process of primary school and interaction with parents of pupils allow for the effective formation of health-saving competence. Prospects for further research lie in the development of digital gaming platforms and methods of gamification of health-saving education, as well as in the long-term monitoring of the impact of educational gaming technologies on the behavioural habits and health status of pupils.
