The article analyzes the educational environment of the university as the basis for the shaping of leadership qualities of higher education students. The structural components of the university’s educational environment in the context of the shaping of leadership qualities of higher education students were identified and characterized (according to M. Bratko) (personal component, axiological-semantic component, informational-content component, organizational-activity component, spatial-subject component, library fund, living conditions of higher education students). It was found that any resource of the university educational environment can be considered as a factor influencing the shaping and development of leadership qualities of higher education students. The stages of the shaping of leadership qualities of higher education students in the process of studying at the university were identified. The relationship between the preparation of higher education students for direct practical activities in the field of management and orientation towards personal self-improvement was emphasized. Attention was focused on the need to involve higher education students in educational and extracurricular activities, interactive forms and methods of learning. The role of the teacher as a mentor in the formation and development of leadership qualities of higher education students was substantiated. It was emphasized that only the combination of the influence of the personality of a teacher who enjoys high authority among higher education students with their deep knowledge, pedagogical skills and professional experience, with the use of innovative teaching methods, makes it possible not only to ensure high-quality mastery of professional disciplines, but also to promote the effective development of leadership qualities necessary for their future profession.
The possibilities of the university's educational environment in ensuring the general cultural and personal development of higher education students as subjects of the educational process, in the formation of their leadership qualities, have been identified.
